Zhytomyr  Vocational College of Service and Design  is one of the best institutions of professional (vocational and technical) education in Zhytomyr region and directs its activities to ensure high quality of education, prepares qualified workers for various branches of economy in Zhytomyr region.

 

VocationalCollege  is an educational institution of the European level, which has a modern, powerful technically equipped material base, constantly implements innovative technologies, modern teaching methods for training competitive workers. It works on the formation of a high-quality educational space which is open to discussions, current ideas, new alternative approaches in the organization of the educational process.

An important advantage of the Centre is its area of service. Today, this is one of the promising areas of economic development.
The projected capacity of the Vocational  College is 900 people. The licensed volume of training of qualified workers is 850 people. The center has a license to provide educational services for 43 professions. The establishment provides training in the following professions: «Seamstress; tailor; cutter», «Bartender; master of restaurant service», «Cook; waiter; bartender», «Cook; waiter», «Cook; confectioner», «Baker; confectioner», «Hairdresser (hair stylist); manicurist; make-up artist», «Painter; designer of storefronts, premises and buildings», «Hairdresser (hairdresser-fashion designer); make-up artist», «Administrator; porter; travel agent».
The Vocational  College has introduced a dual  education by profession: 5122 Cook; 5123 Waiter; 7412 Confectioner; 7412 Baker.

The establishment has modern technically equipped  material base: 5 educational and training complexes, a gym, a library with a book fund of about 35,000 printed items, a dining room for 180 seats, an assembly hall for 250 seats. The Vocational  College has 24 classrooms, 10 workshops and 8 laboratories. The Vocational  College also has 215 items of computer equipment and 116 items of office equipment, 11 multimedia boards, and 14 multimedia projectors.

The STEM laboratory functions to motivate students for educational, research, intellectual and creative activities, to create conditions for the development of specialized training, and the implementation of innovative production technologies.
The Vocational  College has created three practical training centres:

• Practical training centre for the profession of «Seamstress; Tailor; Cutter» (2017, completed in 2021);
• Practical training centre of Hotel and Restaurant Services (2017);
• Practical training centre for the profession of «Baker; Confectioner» (2021).

Currently, our institution, in cooperation with Ukrainian partners, is working on the concept of a project on the topic «Capacity building in vocational training of chefs in the context of modern approaches to ensuring healthy nutrition».

Our project has a significant impact on the modernization of education and training of specialists in the field of public catering. For a vocational and technical education institution:

• The possibility of introducing modern educational programs that meet European standards and take into account the latest technologies of healthy nutrition.
• The creation of digital teaching and methodical materials expands students’ access to innovative and educational resources, promotes their motivation and learning efficiency.
• Improving teaching methods allows teachers to work with new approaches that increase the quality of graduate training.
• Increasing the prestige of the institution through the implementation of a project that meets the current challenges of society.

For educational institutions of Ukraine as a whole:

• Promotion of harmonization of professional education in Ukraine with European standards and practices.
• Ensuring the training of specialists capable of meeting the needs of the modern labor market in the field of healthy nutrition will contribute to the economic growth of the country.
• Expansion of the network of exchange of experience and best practices between educational institutions, which strengthens the educational system of Ukraine.
• The formation of a new generation of cooks, who implement the principles of healthy nutrition, contribute to improving the quality of life of the population.

 

The project has a strategic value, as it affects the quality of education, the health of society and the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market.
